DELL INSPIRION 7000 series (2 in 1) hinge issue.

It’s been 16 months since i bought my laptop and i have barely used it. This morning when i tried to open my laptop, there was a cracking sound at the hinge. It broke and started pushing towards the screen. Thankfully the screen did not break and even the touch is working well and fine.

Initially i assumed it was my fault although i had no clue why it happened. On the internet I see hundreds of complaints regarding hinges on the Inspiron series, even the newly bought are facing same issues.

i spent around 1600$ on the laptop and did not expect dell to build it with a low quality hardware.

Im a student and i cant afford repair expenses for no fault of mine.

I request Dell to provide me a solution.

The only solution Dell will provide is a repair estimate.  You can also contact a local repair shop for the same.

The other option would be to purchase the required parts (try parts-people.com) and install them yourself -- chances are the parts are under $50 (depending on what's broken).  The labor cost will be twice that or more, which you can save.
