Dell G5 wifi adapter not found

Hello,

I have a Dell G5 wifi adapter that just went out of support in April 2025.  I go into device manager and no longer see the wifi adapter.  It was working yesterday and I didn't make any system changes.  I'm able to access the internet with a wired connection, but I prefer to use the wireless capability so I don't have to run a cable between rooms (my router is in one room and my computer is in the next room).

What model G5?  That is, G5 15 5500, 5530, etc.

On most models you can remove the wifi card -- start by unplugging the system, disconnecting the main battery from the mainboard and holding the power button for 30 sec.  Remove and reinstall the wifi card and see if it's then detected.  If it isn't, replace the card with an M.2 (NGFF) card.

If the system has wifi built into the system board, you can also use an inexpensive nano USB wifi card.

A few simple diagnostics may very well help...

Use any Dell built in, and perhaps try the getmac command, because it may list the ethernet, bluetooth and wi-fi details.

ipconfig -all hopefully will list your devices adapters.

Which OS are you running?
