Dell G5 15 5587

I am currently experiencing persistent battery issues with my Dell G5 15 5587 laptop equipped with the 1050ti 130W graphics card. During gaming sessions, the laptop frequently shuts down, prompting me to remove the battery and use it solely with a direct power source. However, this has led to various issues, including a discrete card problem (code 43) and a noticeable degradation in Dell's overall performance.

I am seeking guidance on whether it is advisable to play games exclusively with a direct power source or if it is necessary to reinstall the battery and endure the automatic shutdowns caused by low battery levels. Additionally, I have heard about a potential adaptor upgrade, specifically a 180W adaptor, that could address these issues. If this is the case, I would appreciate information on the full model of the adaptor.

After five years of using this Dell model, I must express my dissatisfaction with the numerous issues, a seemingly subpar model, and challenges with money hungry Dell's support team and useless and poor software management. Considering these challenges, I am contemplating a shift to Lenovo soon products for a more reliable experience.

The system uses hybrid power, so it needs a charged battery to run at full speed.  And if the battery is original to the system and five years old, it is overdue for replacement.

You can buy whatever you'd like next, but if your expectations are that any gaming system will work perfectly for five years or more, you'll be equally disappointed.  You're lucky to get three years out of any system - particularly a gaming system.
