Dell G3 3779 SSD upgrade with Samsung 980 no bootable device.

I tried to upgrade the SSD of my Dell G3 3779 with a Samsung 980 500gb, but it doesn't work!!! The Samsung 980 works i installed it in usb case and i clone the c: drive and everything works , clone c: drive sucsesfully. After that I installed removing the original.128gb ssd drive but it gives error no bootable device. I also tried to install W10 on it , but it doesn't recognize it, the w10 menu show only the 1tb mecanical drive.

Once the image is complete, shut the system down and remove all but the new drive.  Boot the system completely once and you can then shut down and reinstall the hard drive.

Which drive was the bootable one before imaging?

Boomer here - It may depend on the cloning (imaging) program you use.

I use Acronis and have NEVER been able to recreate the C:\ drive + boot sector. I have always had to clone the entire physical drive. Then, if there is something I don't want, I delete folders and resize logical drives.

Are you certain the 128G drive was a standalone boot device  or was it set up as a cache for the main hard drive?

@ejn63 probably you are right? Is it possible to make a clone of the old Windows? I disconnect the 1tb meccanical hd and magically now i can install on the new ssd drive, before I can not see it !!!

If the system is using Intel Optane caching, you will need to disable that and then image the hard drive (NOT the SSD).  Before doing anything:

1.  Verify the configuration of the system.

2.  Make and verify a full system backup.
