Dell G3 3590 – Audio Not Working on Windows 11 (Real Fix Inside)

I want to share my experience with the Dell G3 3590 in case it helps other users who are struggling with audio issues on Windows 11. I spent a long time trying to understand why the sound would suddenly disappear, why Intel Display Audio wouldn’t load, and why Device Manager kept showing warnings.

After a lot of testing, I discovered that the laptop is not obsolete and the hardware is not failing. The real issue is related to Intel Smart Sound Technology (SST).

✔ What’s actually happening

Windows 11 installs newer SST drivers that don’t match the hardware ID of the G3 3590. When the SST OED or SST Audio Controller fails:

  • The audio device disappears

  • Intel Display Audio won’t load

  • HDMI/DP audio stops working

  • The Intel GPU installer warns about “audio”

  • Windows Update cannot repair it

This makes it look like the laptop is outdated, but it’s actually a driver compatibility issue.

✔ The fix

The G3 3590 needs a specific SST OED + SST Audio Controller pair that was included in older Intel driver packages that wher included in the previous version of windows. Win 10. These versions are known to work:

  • 26.20.100.7262 (Dec 2019)

  • 26.20.100.8141 (Aug 2020)

  • 27.20.100.8935 (Feb 2021)

Tools like DriversCloud can detect the exact SST pair required for your system, especially if Windows 11 installed a mismatched version.

Once the correct SST drivers are installed, the audio activates immediately and the system becomes stable again.

✔ Important note

Windows 11 may block some older installers with the message “The operating system version is not supported for this product.” However, if you already have a working SST driver installed (for example, from 2021), the audio will continue to function normally.

✔ Conclusion

The Dell G3 3590 is not outdated. It simply requires the correct SST driver combination to work properly on Windows 11. If your audio is missing, check the SST OED and SST Audio Controller first — that’s where the issue usually starts.

I hope this helps other users who are facing the same problem.
