Hi

Hope this helps...............

The internet reports...

The "8AC6D992" error code on your Dell G3 15 3500 indicates the system is stuck in Manufacturing Mode, a BIOS state intended for factory configuration. This typically occurs after a motherboard replacement or BIOS reset, as replacement boards often ship with Manufacturing Mode enabled. Here’s how to resolve it:

Step 1: Exit Manufacturing Mode

  1. Restart the laptop.

  2. Press Alt + F immediately when the error message appears.

    • This should disable Manufacturing Mode and reboot the system normally.

  3. If unsuccessful, repeat the process and ensure you press Alt + F at the exact moment the error appears.

Step 2: Replace the CMOS Battery

A dead or weak CMOS battery can prevent BIOS settings (including Manufacturing Mode status) from being retained.

  • Locate the CMOS battery (a small coin-cell battery on the motherboard).

  • Replace it with a new CR2032 battery (ensure the system is unplugged and the main battery is removed).

Step 3: Reconfigure BIOS Settings

  1. Enter BIOS by pressing F2 during startup.

  2. Set the Service Tag:

    • Navigate to Main > Service Tag and enter the correct 7-character Service Tag (found on the laptop’s bottom or original packaging).

  3. Save and Exit (press F10).

Step 4: Update BIOS

  1. Download the latest BIOS for your G3 15 3500 from Dell’s Support Site.

  2. Install the update using a USB drive or directly in Windows if the system boots.

If the Issue Persists

  • Contact Dell Support: If the motherboard was replaced under warranty, inform Dell of the recurring Manufacturing Mode issue. They may need to reflash the BIOS or replace the motherboard.

  • Check for Hardware Defects: A faulty BIOS chip or motherboard can cause this error to recur.

Why This Happens

  • Motherboard Replacement: Replacement boards often ship in Manufacturing Mode.

  • CMOS Battery Failure: A dead CMOS battery resets BIOS settings, reactivating Manufacturing Mode.

  • Service Tag Mismatch: Missing or incorrect Service Tag in BIOS can trigger the error.

For further assistance, provide your Service Tag to Dell support via their live chat
