Dell G15 Laptop Bluescreen Crashes from Day 1
I am experiencing severe problems with a new Dell G15 5530 laptop since it arrived last week. I would be interested if anyone has similar experiences.
The setup: The G15 is supposed to replace an old Dell Inspiron 7400 I have been using. It is connected to some basic external devices (mouse, keyboard, a Dell 24 monitor) and I have started installing the same software (Office, Steam, some strategy games with relatively modest graphics requirements - all of which I have been running on the Insprion for years).
The problem: The G15 runs the games mostly fine*, but has started to crash with a bluescreen when running Windows almost from day 1. The problem became more noticeable once I start using the G15 mostly for Windows instead of games - it would crash even when I am just reading tweets on Chrome.
The crashes were happening even after I disconnected all external devices, and would happen a few minutes after I start up the machine and leave it idle without opening any programs - so it does not seem specific to any device or software I am running.
I have already run the usual diagnostics (both "quick" and "thorough") successfully with no issues identified, and updated all the drivers the Dell website asked me to update (which consists of just one NVIDIA graphics driver)
Dell support: I have been in touch with Dell technical support and they have been trying to help. But so far steps taken with them have made things worse. We tried a O/S reset and update today, and now the G15 will not even start - since it will crash half-way through searching for new Windows updates. Dell says the O/S is corrupted and needs a clean reinstall, which I will need to do with a USB drive. This is in progress and I am hopeful.
So my big question is how likely is this problem going to be solved? Have other people experienced this and, if they have, where did things end up?
Bluescreen crashes from day 1 seem to indicate some major manufacturing defect?
* Paradox's Victoria III mostly; Total War Three Kingdoms also worked fine. The only one that crashed was Star Wars Battlefront II, which I tried only once.
(This post was mistakenly put under the "Inspiron" subheading a few moments earlier; that was deleted after this new one is posted here.)
Note: There is a thread from 2022 describing similar problems with the G15 5515:

PS. I should have mentioned the bluescreen error message was:
"CLOCK WATCHDOG TIMEOUT"
This screen never goes anywhere - the G15 is frozen at this point.

PS. This post was moved by someone (I assume an administrator) from the Alieneware subheading where it was posted originally to the Inspiron subheading, in case anyone is confused by the reference to "this post was mistakenly put under the "Inspiron" subheading a few moments earlier", etc.).

The post belongs in the Inspiron forum - the G-series systems are Inspirons, not Alienware.
If the system will still start, try running something like Who Crashed to identify the program, driver or module that caused the crash. The free version (resplendence software) will work fine -- no need for the paid version.
Failing a way to address that, if the system is brand-new from Dell, you can return it for a refund or replacement within 30 days of shipment.

@ejn63 Thanks for the reply and explanation regarding G15 / Inspiron.
I appreciate the suggestion, though unfortunately the system will no longer start, because the the O/S reset & update process suggested by Dell technical support is now stuck in a cycle of starting and then crashing.
Good point about the potential for a refund / replacement within the first 30 days of shipment. We are currently 5 days after delivery though the shipment began about a week before that.
