Dell G15 5530 Powers on but screen remains black
When powering on my laptop, the keyboard lights up and the fan starts running, but the screen remains black. It will not register when plugged into a monitor. I have tried windows + control+ shift+ b, hard resets, taking the battery out and the handful of other things I’ve found in three hours of googling.
if I plug in an external keyboard, it will not light up like it should.
any help would be appreciated

Hold the D key through powerup - is there any evidence of test images showing? If not, use a bright flashlight to check for the screens - however dark they may be.

when holding D, the screen was illuminated for about 10 seconds

Unplug the system, disconnect the battery from the system board and hold the power button for 30 sec. Reassemble and check again.
If there's no image either internally or externally, a replacement mainboard is in your future.
