Dell G15 5530 (2024) randomly freezes during normal work.
I purchased a Dell G15 5530 (Core i5, 2024 model) in March this year.
A few weeks after purchase, I upgraded the RAM to 32GB and installed Windows 11 Pro.
Everything was working fine until about two months ago, when I started experiencing random system freezes. The laptop would suddenly hang, sometimes with a brief screen blink or flicker, and I’d be forced to shut it down using the power button. This issue has since become more frequent and disruptive.
Initially, I suspected the problem was related to memory. I ran Dell’s built-in diagnostics, but the system froze during the memory test, showing some strange screen artifacts (horizontal lines).
Thinking it might be a faulty RAM stick, I tested each module separately, swapped slots, and ran MemTest86 for several passes. However, all tests came back clean, and the issue persisted even with one stick removed.
I then updated everything I could, including the BIOS (currently on version 1.23.0) and all available Windows updates.
I also tried switching apps between the Intel iGPU and the NVIDIA GPU, turned off Variable Refresh Rate, HDR, and Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling, but none of this helped. The freezing still occurs, both in Windows and sometimes even during low-level diagnostics like Dell’s ePSA memory test.
At this point, I’m not sure if the issue is due to a BIOS bug, faulty shared memory used by the iGPU, or a motherboard-level problem like a bad memory controller or GPU path.
Since the system freezes even outside of Windows and shows graphical artifacts, I’m leaning toward a hardware fault.
Has anyone else faced this kind of problem on a G15 5530 recently? Is BIOS 1.23.0 known to cause instability, or should I contact Dell support for a possible motherboard replacement?
I have uploaded a picture of what happedn during the ePSA test here: https://ibb.co/8gdcChbD
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
To resolve this issue, Dell has released an I-REV BIOS version that addresses the problems caused by the previous release.
Important:
The I-REV BIOS is a corrective version that replaces the previous one and restores proper system functionality. It is available upon request through Dell Technical Support. Access to this version requires signing a consent form, as the file is considered a temporary solution and must not be shared.
To proceed, please contact Technical Support by clicking Get Help Now in the bottom-right corner of this page.

I have the same problem. Also went through everything and started MemTest86 scan. While it does it thing I found this post. My next thing I'm going to try is boot Linux. If it still freezing then it must be hardware issue. The only thing to note is I have the i7-13650hx cpu.
please tell me you found a solution

@UserG3Gaming, I think this is the problem with the new BIOS. I check the Windows Event Viewer, I am getting this error of KERNEL POWER-41 with description "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."
Now I am hardly using the laptop due to frustration of hanging in between the work.
What I did that I just installed the stock RAM and remove the G-Skill RAMs. The system was working fine for 1 hour, but I am planning to check it for more than 1 hour.
I fed up using the system. I bought it excitedly and ended up in frustration

@mrammarbukhari thank you for the reply
I'm also thinking of just getting new laptop. But I'm first going to try that l-REV bios Dell support is talking about.

@UserG3Gaming I got the I-REV bios, but the problem is that the downgrade is blocked by 1.23 version BIOS version even if you have allowed it in the BIOS settings.
I think we need to do a CMOS reset. Let me know the procedure if you got one and downgraded the current BIOS
