Dell g15 5525 random restarts bsods

Hi,

My dell g15 passes all hardware diagnostics including advanced diagnostics. On starting the laptop it will show the dell logo screen, the screen will go black, then it will show the logo again and then restart. It sometimes will restart many times before attempting to boot from the usb. I have a windows 11 install usb. When I attempt to reinstall windows 11, the install is interrupted with a restart and fails to complete. I have upgraded the bios to the latest version. Nothing seems to work. I can get to the initial windows install pages, and, if i choose, windows repair and the command prompt. I had, recently, gotten the laptop to install windows(I was lucky) and it ran normally without problem. I'm not sure what could possibly be wrong with it. I have reset the cmos. I have reinstalled everything to factory. none of it seems to work. I believe the hardware is good, I'm not sure what I can try. I thought about trying the ctrl+esc maneuver, but I can't seem to get that to work. I also thought about attempting to install a different operating system. let me know what you think.

thanks,

mike

Hi

memtest86 may well be worth trying.

An alternate OS?

Debian 12 or Linux Mint 22.

Mint will run live in RAM and effectively test the ram, while you can research formatting and creating your GPT style storage device with Gparted.

As a bonus it also does...

The fsck command in Linux stands for "File System Consistency Check" and is used to check and repair file system errors. It is typically run on unmounted file systems to ensure data integrity and can help fix issues that may prevent a system from booting or cause file corruption.

If in doubt please ask.

Same issue here. Well, almost the same. The windows starts to load but about 2 seconds after the circle thing begins, the computer reboots. Same as you, sometimes i get lucky and enter windows, and from there the computer works just fine. Tried everything, every scan possible, change ssd, change ram, upgrade and downgrade bios, and nothing.
