Dell G15 5525 - Battery question

I just ordered a replacement battery for my

Dell G15 5525.

while I wait for the battery to arrive does anyone know if it’s possible to disconnect the current battery and use the laptop while I wait for the replacement. I’ve seen a fair share of videos and posts online that suggest it’s possible but before trying I thought I’d ask the question.

Thanks!!

Yes, it is -- unless something other than the battery is faulty, the system will run just fine on AC only.

@ejn63 I really appreciate your response. Oddly enough I removed the battery last night and plugged in the laptop and it did not work.

my original power supply is working and I even purchased a new one that I tried as well that also didn’t work.

the computer was working yesterday morning and was running while the battery slowly depleted. So I’m not sure what else could be the problem. The laptop is only 12-15 months old.

how would I diagnose the issue without getting the laptop running to assess?

Any thoughts.

Unplug the system and hold the power button for 30 sec (with the battery removed).  Remove and replace the memory modules and the SSD.

Then reassemble the system and see if it will boot to a setup screen (F2 at powerup).
