Dell G15 5511 Not turning on when put to sleep for 5 minutes

Hi,

Every time I put my laptop to sleep or go out for 5 minutes, I come back and it has turned off. It does not seem to boot up.

I would have to open the back lid, unplug the battery do a hard reset (30 seconds) and put the battery back in and it works again..

I am tired of doing this multiple times, I have already done this 5 times what is the solution?

If your Dell G15 5511 is not turning on after being put to sleep for 5 minutes, there are a few potential reasons and troubleshooting steps you can follow:

  1. Power settings: Check the power settings on your laptop to ensure that it is set to "Sleep" after the specified duration. Sometimes, certain power settings may prevent the laptop from waking up properly from sleep mode. You can adjust these settings in the Control Panel or Settings app on Windows.

  2. Update drivers and BIOS: Ensure that you have the latest drivers and BIOS updates installed for your laptop. Dell regularly releases updates to fix issues and improve system stability. Outdated drivers or BIOS can cause sleep-related problems.

  3. Check for malware or background processes: Malware or certain background processes can interfere with the sleep and wake functions of your laptop. Run a full system scan using a reliable antivirus program and check the Task Manager for any suspicious processes.

  4. Disable hybrid sleep: Hybrid sleep is a combination of sleep and hibernation modes. Disabling hybrid sleep might help resolve sleep-related issues. You can find this option in the advanced power settings.

  5. Check for external devices: Sometimes, external devices connected to your laptop can cause issues with sleep mode. Try disconnecting all external devices (such as USB drives, printers, etc.) and see if the problem persists.

  6. Reset power plan settings: Resetting the power plan settings to their default values might help if there are any misconfigured settings causing the problem.

  7. Perform a power cycle: Shut down your laptop, unplug the power adapter, and remove the battery (if possible). Hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge any residual power. Then, reconnect the battery (if removable), plug in the power adapter, and turn on the laptop.

  8. Check for overheating: Overheating can cause unexpected shutdowns or issues with sleep mode. Ensure that your laptop's cooling system is functioning correctly, and the vents are clean and unobstructed.

If the issue persists despite trying these steps, there may be a more complex hardware or software problem with your Dell G15 5511. In that case, I recommend reaching out to Dell Support or visiting an authorized Dell service center for further assistance and diagnosis. They will be able to provide specialized support and help you resolve the specific issue with your laptop.
