Dell dock compatibility guide doesn't list my laptop
Hi. I have a "Dell Inspiron 14 Plus 7420" laptop.
It has two options to power it:
- "classic" port with 130W power supply
- Thunderbolt 4 port (with up to 90-100W power supply? unclear if it accepts 130W too)
I'm looking for a Dell thunderbolt docking station. But the compatibility guide does not list my laptop...
https://www.delltechnologies.com/asset/en-us/products/electronics-and-accessories/technical-support/dell_docking_compatibility_guide.pdf.external
It has details for "Inspiron 7420" and "Inspiron 7420 2-in-1". But not my "Dell Inspiron 14 Plus 7420"... The "Plus" is important for me as it highlights a more demanding laptop. I'm hoping to find a docking station that can deliver up to 130W via my Thunderbolt 4 port. Please advise.

For thunderbolt 4 with 130w power capacity, you may want to check out the WD22TB4 docking station.

@Chino de Oro Thank you. But I'm not convinced. Why?
1. because the Dell Docks Compatibility guide (link in main post) does not list my laptop for the WD22TB4 dock. And for the other two laptop versions I mentioned, it says "No".
2. another link for my specific laptop (see below) shows that the USB-C power charger would give 90W for my laptop. Thus, I'm not sure if my TB4 port accepts only up to 90W. Or if it can also accept up to 130W..

I' am not convincing you of anything. Just simply help providing answer to your inquiry: I'm hoping to find a docking station that can deliver up to 130W via my Thunderbolt 4 port. Please advise.
As far as power is concerned, your laptop will negotiate power delivery and taking only the maximum power (wattage) it needs while the docking station (with 180w power adapter) will provide up to 130w.
