Dell Data Wipe - Hard drive gone Is everything gone then?
I wanted to wipe my laptop so I can give it away, I was going to use DBAN but I couldn't get it to work, I saw Dell had a Data Wipe in BIOS and thought I'd try it anyway it wiped everything and now there's nothing on it and it says no HDD detected in BIOS. Is all my information gone or if the HDD gets re-enabled will everything come back? I don't want to give this laptop away if it still has my stuff on it.

I believe Dell Data Wipe works similar as CLEAN ALL from Disk Part. It wiped everything on the drive.
Some alternative preference, if you are going to give it to relatives, someone you know, Dell Data Wipe should be sufficient. If you are going to give it to charity or not a well known person, just give the laptop without hard drive. Take HDD out and dented it with a hammer before discard it. That should give you peace of mind.

Thanks. Yeah I'm going to remove the HDD and then give it away.

@HAC89 You can always reuse the hard drive for your own use rather than destroy it. For example, you can buy an external drive enclosure and use the drive for backups or additional storage. Just remember that you'll need to re-create and format a new partition since you wiped the drive. Otherwise, it will not be usable until you do so.
