Crashes During Hybrid Sleep - Inspiron 15 3520
Inspiron 15 3520
HELP NEEDED!
Issue - Most times when the computer sleeps longer than 20 minutes (manual select, closing lid, timing out), it will crash leading to a full reboot. I must 'wake it' by holding the power button and seeing the DELL logo. If left for longer than 2 hours, this will happen 100% of the time.
Background - This has happened since the computer was new in January. I've spoken to Microsoft thinking it was a Windows problem. They had me run all sorts of updates and diagnostics as well as performing two clean installs of Windows with no improvement. They suggested I talk to DELL. I reached out, they had me run the BIOS hardware checks which all came back clean, and they told me I'd have to pay money for further support (which is infuriating to have a faulty new computer that they won't help with). I've updated BIOS, and all DELL/intel drivers directly from the website.
This computer does not have traditional sleep - it only has hybrid sleep. I've used event viewer paired with AI to confirm it is a crash and not just the computer self-hibernating due to battery consumption. For reference, the battery is usually >90% upon waking from the crash. There is also no setting for 'hibernate after sleeping for XX minutes' option.
Please help, I am open to suggestions. Best Buy of course won't take the computer back after 3 months of me troubleshooting so I feel I am stuck here with a lemon. Please let me know what additional data might be helpful for diagnosing.
