Battery Draining Fast on Inspiron 14 5410 with Windows 11 – Is there any Power Settings Issue?
Hey Dell Community,
My Inspiron 14 5410’s battery is draining faster than expected, lasting only 3-4 hours on light use (browsing, Word). It’s a year old, and I’m wondering if it’s a settings issue.
Details:
- Laptop Model: Dell Inspiron 14 5410 (purchased 2024, service tag available).
- OS: Windows 11 Home, 64-bit, version 24H2, build 26100.2161.
- Specs: Intel Core i5-11320H, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Intel Iris Xe Graphics.
- Software: Dell Power Manager 3.2, BIOS 2.9.1 (latest via Dell Update), Microsoft Defender, no third-party antivirus.
- Usage: Wi-Fi on, screen brightness 50%, no external devices, Dell Balanced power plan.
Issue: Battery drops from 100% to 20% in ~3.5 hours with Chrome (2-3 tabs) and Word. Dell SupportAssist battery health shows “Excellent,” but Task Manager lists high CPU usage (20-30%) from “System” and “Windows Host Process” occasionally. No errors in Event Viewer.
Steps Taken:
- Ran SupportAssist diagnostics—no hardware issues.
- Adjusted power plan to Battery Saver, disabled background apps.
- Updated all drivers and BIOS via Dell Update—no change.
- Disabled Intel Turbo Boost in BIOS—slight improvement (~4 hours).
- Checked 2024 Inspiron battery threads; saw similar issues but no clear fix.
- Ran
powercfg /batteryreport
—shows 90% design capacity (normal for age).
What I Expected: 6-7 hours of battery life for light tasks, per Dell’s specs.
What Happened: Only 3-4 hours, even with optimized settings.
Has anyone fixed fast battery drain on Inspiron 14 5410 with Windows 11 24H2? Any power settings, driver tweaks, or BIOS configs to try? Thanks for any help!

Well You can try the following:
1. Choose a Power-Efficient Power Plan
2. Check Background Apps & Startup Impact
3. Adjust Display & Sleep Settings
4. Check Battery Report
5. Use PC optimizer software to enhance PC performance like Advanced System Optimizer
6. Disable Unused Features
7. BIOS & Driver Updates

@GauravSyst
Thanks for the detailed tips! I’ll try the power plan, background apps, and other steps. For #5, any specific settings in Advanced System Optimizer to prioritize for battery life? Appreciate the help!
