Audio driver goes to sleep and causes hum noise.

Hello,

This is happening on 2 of my Windows 11 computers.

Both have Realtek audio drivers.

One is an Inspiron laptop 2 in 1 and the other is my Dell 5820 workstation.

The Realtek audio driver seems to go to sleep or disable the speaker/ output port socket after 15 seconds of inactivity.

This is evident by a click (like a switch) and then the speaker will start humming at volume as they no longer have any input signal.

As soon as there is a demand for audio such as a system sound or video or... the driver will turn on the socket again, the hum stops and the audio plays normally.

After the sound has completed, another 15 seconds delay will cause the socket to turn off again and the hum starts.

How can I get the driver not to do that and remain actively driving the audio output connector/socket?

Click here for troubleshooting and resolving the hum noise on your 2 in 1 laptop. For the Workstation hummin click here.

To receive assistance from Dell chat support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Then you must troubleshoot with them.
Click the "Get Help Now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. If already out of warranty, click here for the Dell out of warranty offering.
