Also stuck power button Inspiron17 5000series
SHORT VERSION: Dell Inspiron 5000 series POWER BUTTON IS STUCK and WILL NOT TURN ON.
Thank you so much to whomever is able to assist.
The computer belonged to my father and he passed. We used Dad's Dell Inspiron 5000 series (5658) for the pictures at his funeral. Months later, someone tossed the charging cord, since it didn't fit my Dell. I just was able to buy the exact cord needed to use the computer and find our family memories again. HOWEVER, I do not know if the computer simply sitting and not being used is the cause, but the power button is stuck. I mean that there is no give to it, to turn the computer on.
I watched one video and the man took almost everything apart to check the power button. I have read that this is a common problem.
Is that really the only one way to correct this and it means taking the entire computer apart??? I do not mind taking some of it apart, but it was difficult to follow and I am not sure I could even see how he was doing all of it.
THANK YOU FOR ANY ASSISTANCE!

Inspiron model
There is no Inspiron 5658. I thought perhaps you mean 5758, so I gave you links to Service Manual procedures for the 5758. If it's another model, then you'd need to look in a different Service Manual.
Don't worry, your stuff can be retrieved
Don't worry. Even if the laptop is entirely dead and nonrepairable, you won't lose your photos. In that worst case, you can remove the hard drive and will be able to retrieve its photos and files by using another computer.
Steps to try
1. For best results, you should use a Dell power adapter. If that laptop has only integrated Intel graphics, it can use a 45-watt (or greater) power adapter. If it has a discrete Nvidia graphics card, it needs a 65-watt (or greater) power adapter. I realize that you may not know what graphics it has, so use a 65-watt (or greater) Dell power adapter. If you don't plan to continue to use this laptop after retrieving your files, maybe you can borrow a Dell power adapter.
2. First thing I would try is a reset:
If you see any led lights, make note of colour and pattern/sequence. Likewise, if you hear any beeps, make note of them. Tell us what you see and hear.
3. If the above doesn't succeed in a boot, repeat my reset steps 1-4, and then remove the CMOS battery (coin-cell battery), wait 15 minutes or so and replace it with a fresh battery. Instructions in the Service Manual. Then close up the system, connect the power adapter and see if it will boot.
4. If it truly is a power button failure, it is possible to replace it. However, unless you really want to use that laptop, it may be simpler to remove the drive and access it from another computer to retrieve your files.
Warnings
Follow the disassembly and reassembly steps in Dell's Inspiron 5758 Service Manual.
Look on YouTube for videos showing disassembly of your model. But, be cautious with them, as some use steps or methods that are not appropriate. Use the videos to add to your understanding of what to do, but follow the steps in Dell's manual.
Whenever touching components or working inside a computer, wear a grounded wrist strap, also called anti-static wrist strap, ESD wrist strap, or ground bracelet. It's a cheap and sensible precaution. Rest the laptop on an anti-static mat or at least a reasonable alternative such as corrugated cardboard. (Repeatedly touching a metal case part is not sufficient mitigation with modern components.)
If you're not comfortable working inside the laptop or don't have necessary tools, perhaps a technical friend or local repair shop can assist. It's not rocket science, but it is easy to break something or damage a component with a static electricity discharge.

This is not a solution to fix the power button but one for after you where able to switch it on once:
Set in the BIOS the option: power on if AC cable is connected (maybe it a little bit different written).
I'm using it for years now, and never used the power button anymore! In the morning if I switch on the power in my office, my laptop automatic starts up, no need to find the power button!
Good luck with starting up you laptop (once)!
