65 W adapter message that shuts your computer down.

All you have to do is plug the adapter from your computer and the power source and plug it back in. Why does everything have to be so confusing?

The computer checks to see if you are using a suitable power adapter that can supply enough wattage. In this case, it needs a 65 watt or higher power adapter connected to it. If the connected power adapter is supplying less then the required wattage that the computer needs, it should still be able to power the computer and boot, but at the cost of reduced performance. It won't be able to recharge the battery as well.

If your power adapter is rated at 65 or higher watts and the computer isn't detecting the proper wattage, there could be a problem with the power adapter. This can be related to the sensing pin in the center of the barrel connector (that plugs into the computer), or a problem with the connector on the computer itself. Make sure that your power adapter is a Dell original and the correct model for your computer. Avoid using aftermarket power adapters, mainly ones with interchangeable tips, as they most likely lack the sensing pin.
