16 7610 Power Adapter Port

My Inspiron 16 is used a lot. I move it back and forth from the kitchen table to my desk and have a power cord at each site.

lately, it seems the connection between the Power Adapter Port and my power cable is very sensitive. The least jostle can make it temporarily lose contact and the pc goes dark and then will come back (on battery one way, power cord the other?). Is it possible the adapter has become worn and not making solid contact when I insert it?

It is just an irritant but gets in the way of working when it goes dark for a bit.

Any ideas? I hope I don't have to have the port replaced - is that the best solution?
