Youtube outputing very low sound while windows media has normal sound

Inspiron 3671

Inspiron 3671

I'll say this seems like an obvious driver issue but need help. Using an Inspiron 3671 on windows 11.

Problem started when my sound was very low due to some speakers not working (wiring problem I think). I decided I wanted to make sure the software wasn’t having an issue. How I had the software set up is I was using an audio equalizer app called fxsound. I disabled it to try to get to where I’d be using default programs which I think may be maxxaudiopro? Not sure though. I then realized i didn’t have the basic dell audio driver / program installed so I decided to DL it. Then the weirdest thing happened. I was logged into a user account when I DL’d realtek audio from Dells driver DL checker on their site and after that I logged into the Admin account. Since I wasn’t able to see the realtek audio driver DL’d on the admin account, I tried DL’ing again but this time there was no option on dells site (hard to explain in text without an essay). I finally got realtek audio installed and then this problem of youtube having very low sound you can only slightly hear with high volume. I didn’t know what to do so I uninstalled the driver I just installed which didn’t help. BTW, there was no issue at any time with volume from windows system, just youtube to my knowledge. I also tried clearing the recent cache on YT with no benefit. I tried both chrome and brave. The last thing I tried was using windows update and installed an optional dell firmware update which didn’t help.

When looking under the speaker settings it says it’s using the Intel Display Audio. I also changed the speaker bit rate from 16 bit, 44000 Hz to 24 bit, 96000 Hz around when this happened.

Not sure what to do. Thank you.

All the issue is with different settings.  Regardless YT browser or media appl, all your sounds are reproduce from the same audio controller w/ the same audio driver when using the same audio output port.

Go to Windows Audio and audio apps to reset them back to default settings.  Set audio volume level in system tray to around 80.  Then, when playback media, making adjustment to the volume control of that specific media app to your prefer listening level.

This PC model uses Waves MaxxAudio Pro software as sound controller. So your issues may be related to that app.

If resetting Windows audio settings doesn't help, you should investigate Waves settings, or possibly uninstall it and reinstall it...

Make sure Waves MaxxAudio Pro is on/enabled.  When it is, music plays louder.
