Will 75 watt gpu work in dell inpsiron 3668
I have a dell Inspiron 3668 with a i3-7100. The psu is 240 watts it currently has a gt 1030. I want to upgrade to a 1650 or a 1050 to since they both don’t need a 6 pin. But I keep seeing different answers some say it’ll work some day it won’t. I just need some clarification if it’ll work. I’ll be playing games like fortnite, triple AAA on low settings, etc. and if a 75 watt gpu will work can I still upgrade. Thank you

that should be fine. i5-7500 is only 14w higher than i3-7100 in power consumption (51w vs 65w). the power saved by not using hdd and dvd is much more than difference btn cpu

Re: upgrade to a 1650 or a 1050
it will be fine if you do not use mechanical hdd and dvd.
Load Wattage:201 W
Recommended PSU Wattage:251 W
if you use a hdd still ok
Load Wattage:209 W
Recommended PSU Wattage:259 W
if hdd + dvd it is borderline ok
Load Wattage:240 W
Recommended PSU Wattage:290 W
(load watt is minimum)

@redxps630 ok so I unplug the dvd drive and I replace the hdd with a ssd. Can I replace upgrade the cpu with a i5-7500? And add another 8 gigs of ram?

if you use a standard 24/4 pin ATX psu to replace the Dell 6+4 pin psu then use this adapter

the Dell psu is like TFX
a non-Dell psu may not fit case unless installed outside

Re: is there any adapter I can use for a 6 pin power cable that’ll work on my mobo
if you mean you need a 6 pin PCIe connector for gpu, then you need to upgrade to Dell 360w or 500w psu which have that. the 240w psu does not have PCIe 6 pin.
when you have the black 6 pin you can run GTX1660 (120w gpu) etc. that require the 6 pin. Dell psu 6 pin PCIe is essentially 8 pin too when using adapter.
