upgrading a inspiron 3847 gpu and possibly the psu

I gave my brother a old used dell inspiron planning to upgrade the gpu with a 1650 or a 1060. now that day has come (for context i got the gpu from a friend but i wont get it until tomorrow and i now it has a 6pin for power)

now i have three possible choices one is that i buy a sata to 6pin and pray that my house wont burn down. Two is i buy a over specked psu (evega 700 watt) and since i live in a small country import taxes and shipping cost are through the roof (Newegg doesn't ship to Iceland) and number three i use a external psu routed into the case and plugged only into the gpu.

Until any better suggestions come up ill go with three or one

not good idea to use sata adapter for gpu.

seems some or many european country has trouble getting Dell or eBay parts.  can still use old Dell or non-Dell desktop psu (used) for the 3847 b/c it uses standard ATX 24/4 pin psu.

look on your local market if there is one in iceland.

@redxps630 i know its not recommended to use an sata to 6pin that's why I've been leaning more into a external psu or buying a psu. Also i have a working (700w) psu with 180 wats on the 3.3 and 5 volt rail (seemed important after looking at other post about the 3847 psu upgrade) I'm not sure if there are other required specks on the system. By the way I'm not sure of the brand but its from a 2014 amd prebuilt from my grandma and was very lightly used.

that should do. no worries on 3.3 and 5v.  I use psu older than 2014 such as 2008 or older and they still work in Dell.
