Swap GPU Inspiron 3020

Hi, I've got an Inspiron 3020 desktop and I'm not so happy with the GPU's performance.

I'd like to now if it is possible to replace the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 OEM with the AMD Radeon RX 6600?

They have about the same size and suggested PSU for both is 300w.

Verify that your power supply has 8-pin PCIe connector for graphics and you are good to go.

Uses have so far validated only RX 550 or RX 460 for 3020

@redxps630 My pc was supplied with the RTX 3050. I was hoping a better card than that one would be possible.

Btw, according to ASUS the Radeon RX 6600 needs 500w. Makes me think the value of 300w, stated on techpowerup.com is incorrect.

There is a reason why I suggest for you to check your power supply.  If it has 8-pin graphics connector or a dual 6-pin, you are good to upgrade to any cards that require an 8-pin external power connector.

Inspiron 3020 was shipped with either 180w, 300w, or 460w PSU.  Check to see which PSU is in your PC.

That 300w PSU could provide only one 6-pin power connector.  You can confirm it by disconnect the connector from the RTX 3050 and look at the number of pins

If that is a 6-pin connector, you can not replace your GPU with the AMD Radeon RX 6600 as it will require an 8-pin connector for power.

Yes, I'm afraid it's 6-pin only. I guess the PSU has to be replaced aswell.

Only if you get the performance value in return.  For PSU upgrade, you will look at another $100 USD in addition to the graphics card.

Well, you will have to decide if spending over €300 for an 18% gain in GPU performance is justify for you.

Reviving an old thread.

Found a cheaper model 500w PSU on Aliexpress and decided to replace my GPU afterall.

Here the details, in case someone else might this info of use.

PSU: D500EPS-01 DPS-500AB-58A 0t685j 500w

GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 4060 Ti VENTUS 2X BLACK 16G OC *

* I choose this one because the case has limited space and it was the shortest version of the RTX 4060 Ti
