Reset failed - Dell All In One (AIO) Desktop, touchscreen

Purchased a new Dell AIO desktop (Win 11) for Christmas to replace an old Dell AIO desktop (Win10) I had for six years. Followed the exact instructions to reset the old desktop. The old desktop was showing as downloading for 10 days straight (I'm patient), I disconnected and took it to the basement to start the reset again, since my spouse needed to work in the office.  After 5 days, when I finally get to the right screen and use a USB with the downloaded OS recovery, the screen says "Reset failed." It has power, good internet access, and it's using the download from the Dell page. What am I doing wrong? Very frustrating. I want to reset the old AIO desktop and give it to a nonprofit. Help.

Hi

I doubt you are doing anything wrong.

My choice would be to use another OS, like Debian or Linux Mint as live OS's and delete/format the entire storage area.

https://linuxmint.com/download.php

https://mirrors.ocf.berkeley.edu/debian-cd/

Then install Linux Mint and donate away.

You are donating a working PC with an OS that many consider superior to W10, whilst leaving the system to have ownership changed/Windows10 restored if that is what is wanted.

If in doubt please ask.
