Realtek is killed by accident

I had realtek working on rear audio but not front.

I thought I had connected front jack and mic to wrong audio port so I connected them to a 16-1 pin header labelled HD audio

power on I lost realtek icon at right lower corner

PC has no audio at rear any more

no error in dev mgr

I tried a clean OS reinstall

reinstalled realtek driver

no audio

I think the experimental connection of front cable has killed the audio chip realtek for good.

lesson learnt second time

when audio chip is fried, it passes way without adieu and error

it is like it never existed

no audio device.  this is what it says when realtek onboard audio chip is killed

work around: install old fashioned creative PCI sound card, which works great for both rear and front audio.

note to self : be careful experimenting with mobo header.  audio chip very easy to die.

I'm sorry for your lose, at least you know what happened, lesson learned, as they say: the more you sweat in the training the less you bleed at a war :|
