Power outage - now Computer won't start up
Inspiron 3891
We had a short (5 Second) power Outage and now the computer won't start up again. When it's turned on the Fan briefly runs and power light comes on but no splash screen on monitor and nothing else happens.
Thinhgs I've tried:
- I have unplugged it for several minutes and pressed the power button then plugged it back in. Fan briefly runs and power light comes on but no splash screen on monitor and nothing else happens.
- Removed CMOS Battery for several minutes and replaced, still the same thing.
- Reved SSD and tested in portable SSD adaptor and it seems to work fine.
- Tested voltage from the Power Supply and it's reading 12 volts on both connectors.
Anything else I can try? I'm leaning towars the Motherboard went bad.

If you're using a power strip or surge protector, remove those and connect PC directly to a working outlet.
What color is power button, steady or blinking when PC won't boot? Count blinks, if any, which are an error code.
What color is the PSU diagnostic LED on rear of PC when it won't boot? Try running the PSU BIST, using instructions for a PC without a PSU test button.
When you unplugged PC , did you remove power cord from rear of PC, rather than just from the outlet? Do that and then press/hold power button on PC for ~30 sec. Then plug in again, without power strip or surge, and see if it boots.
After you removed the motherboard battery, did you press/hold power button for ~30 sec? Did you just reinstall the old CR2032 battery or a fresh one? You might want to try again, holding the button after removing the battery, and then installing a fresh battery.
BTW: do you have an add-in video card or only onboard Intel Graphics? If you have an add-in video card, the monitor should be connected to the card, not to the onboard Intel Graphics port.
