power media player for dell vs windows media player
Hello,
Just got a new Inspiron 3891 to replace my very old Inspiron 620-- Needed a DVD player/port and have one, no problem. But I noticed I now have a "Power Media Player for Dell" in addition to a windows media player. I should mention I just use it to look at commercial video movies and
1) what is the difference between the two?
2) there doesn't seem to be a default on EITHER one--ie, that it starts up right away
3) Power Media player seems to be doing OK--but when I tried to play the windows media player on another occasion, all I got the little blue circle on and on-- trying to start,. but never did
so, what is he difference between the two? can I set one as default, and how can I activate windows media player if I so choose??/ Thanks, shipman

It's probably more a matter of personal choice. Pick the one that's easiest for you to use and has the best features for your viewing enjoyment.
Lots of discussions on the internet about problems opening Windows Media Player in Win 10/11. Have a look at this one to see if it helps solve the problem.
To set either of them as your default player, click Start>Search and type in default apps and select that from the results list. When that Default Apps screen opens, look down the list for Video Player, and choose the app you want as your default player. You can always change that again any time you want.

@shipman2
Windows media player does not come with DVD playback codecs.
If all you need is DVD then get VLC
