Pc beeps 5 times and then turns off for 3 seconds then does it over and over again
Studio XPS 435 MT
Last night I was checking the cables on my computer to make sure they were the right kind for a new motherboard, so I turned it off then back on again. It beeps 5 times then turns off, then powers on again. Keep in mind there is an orange light during power on.

5 beeps indicate a real Time Clock failure (RTC). You can try removing the CMOS battery for 15 minutes and while you are at it replace it with a brand new recently purchase battery, usually a CR2032 and very cheap.

JOcean is spot on. the 435MT is a intel 1st gen cpu pc that should need a new CMOS battery as regular maintenance. a old battery often leads to power on erratic behavior.
