OM6C7G compatibility with 11th gen cpu

I have an older dell g5 gaming computer with a 10th gen I3.  I purchased an 11th gen I5 11400F but when I installed it the computer won’t boot.  Is the 11th gen processors not compatible with this motherboard? Is there an update I maybe need to do first?

thanks for the help

same thing in Dell Aurora R11.  Its bios is for 10th gen cpu only.  No bios update

Dell made a bios update in Aurora R12 which supports 11th gen.  this is usual Dell trick.  write a bios update only for a newer model.

Is there any plans to update the bios for your motherboards? This is standard industry practice... or does Dell not support their products as industry standards go? Thank you for your assistance.
