Mould growing on otherside of the LCD touchscreen panel

Hello there,

I have a Dell Inspiron 7459 AIO, and have found that mould or some spots is growing on the other side of the LCD screen (it would appear that an air gap exists on the other side of the glass screen) - obviously tried wiping away the spots and it wouldnt come off - that was when I realised that its growing on the other side of the glass.  The touchscreen and everything still works fine though.

Was wondering if the screen could be dis-assembled either externally or has intervention to be done internally on the other side of the screen to wipe away the bits?

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated - thanks in advance.

You can remove the display from the bezel and clean with rubbing alcohol.

Use the service manual for disassembly procedures.

If you are seeing what appears to be bubbles or dark spots on the screen behind the glass, then the LCD screen will need to be replaced.

Hmm...there aren't any bubbles per se, and the LCD screen and touch response are still working very well, so really quite hesitant to replace the LCD.

Thought it would be a matter of dis-assembling the LCD monitor (possibly from the back) and giving it a wipe (suspect there is an air-gap between the glass screen and the touch sensitive display) but might be wrong here

Thank you very much! That was a good suggestion - was wondering if the bezel could be removed and the teardown image certainly shows it can

My sentiments exactly!  I have got in touch with someone who might be able to take apart/dis-assemble the LCD panel based on the teardown disassembly procedures, clean it with alcohol and will report progress.
