Monitor Resolution Support

Inspiron 3030 Desktop

Inspiron 3030 Desktop

Hello, I'm still learning about computers, so please let me know if you need any other information.

I recently purchased an Inspiron 3030. I previously had a Lenovo IdeaCentre 5 AMD Desktop Tower with a 10th Gen Intel 17-10700, 12 GB DDR4 2933, 256GB PCIeNVMe, and Intel UHD Graphics 630. With it, I used my LG Ultrawide 34-inch screen. My resolution was always 2560 x 1080.

I am using the same LG monitor with my Dell Inspiron 3030, I used the same HDMI cable, I even switched to DP cable to see if anything changed and it did not. The resolution seems to only go up to 1920 x 1080, it won't show the higher resolution on the list.

I spoke to a Dell rep via chat and was told my system can only support the smaller resolution, which will not work for me.

What can I add or change to be able to view the higher resolution? Everything looks a tad bigger and wider, making videos look horrible to watch. I use my computer for photo and video editing, and I need to be able to view this properly. Can anyone please help me?

Inspiron 3030 Specs

Intel 17-14700
Intel UHD Graphics 770 128 MB
Windows 11 Home
16 GB DDR5 I believe

Thank you so much

The manual does state the HDMI port is  limited to FHD resolution 1920X1200 60 Hz.

If your LG monitor has a displayport input, use the displayport output on the system, which should have a higher resolution limit.  1.4a will do 4K output.

If the monitor doesn't support displayport, it's either time for a higher-end model system or a new monitor that does.

@ejn63 Hi, thank you for the reply. My monitor only has 2 HDMI ports, however, my cable is HDMI to Display Port, which is what I have plugged into my computer right now. I just bought this desktop, and my monitor is fairly new. There is no way I can replace either. I was hoping for a solution in which maybe I can replace something to allow my monitor to support the higher resolution. Is there something that I can do like that? There has to be a way. Replacing either one just sounds extreme. I purchased this tower on March 29, 2025, I received it on April 8, 2025. It is new. I suppose I can return it, but if I don't have to, I won't, I wasn't expecting any issued, so I threw out the box :(
