Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft ACPI Missing in Device Manager
Inspiron 3268
I have an Inspiron 3268 Intel (R) Core (TM) i5-7400 CPU @ 3.00GHz 3.00 GHz 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor running Windows 10 Home Version Edition, 22H2, OS Build 19045.3086, Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19041.1000.0
I recently updated Windows 10 with the newest feature update and KB5027538 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5, 4.8 and 4.8.1 for Windows 10 Version 22H2 and KB4023057: Update Health Tools—Windows Update Service components. My battery still only charged up to 91% after running the Troubleshooter. I found a "fix" online that said to uninstall the Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft ACPI - Compliant Control Method Battery drivers and restart to re-install them. Now neither appear in Device Manager. Only the HID UPS Battery icon appears. How do I reinstall the Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft ACPI - Compliant Control Method Battery? My PC only charges to 98% plugged in. Thank you.

Remove AC power from your machine, disable battery saver in Windows.
Run machine on battery until it completely drained, system shut off by itself. Plug in AC adapter and charging with system off.
When indicator showing the battery is fully charged, you can repeat the cycle three times. This will calibrate the battery and allowing Windows to see accurate base line from empty to full.
Run scan for hardware change in Device Manager and you should get all your drivers back.

Thank you. The icons for both no longer appear in Device Manager. How do I scan for hardware change if I cannot choose either device? Thank you.

The scan button is on menu ribbon, not on the device itself. Maybe that was the main issue. You did not know how to use DM and made change to the system managers.
Also, it takes several hours to calibrate the battery. You don't perform a proper procedure resulting in waste times.
Check to make sure you have all backup data and considering a clean install of Windows. It's a cover all with least amount of time to fix all issues without having to figure out what was done to the machine.
Note: do not forget to update needed drivers after a fresh installation.

It's the right model. There is a battery icon in Device Manager. Now when I expand the tree, there is only an icon for the HID UPS Battery.

@WC7264 - Did you post the wrong model number?
Inspiron 3268 is a desktop PC, so why should Device Manager have entries for an AC power adapter or battery on a desktop?

That means the problem is with your UPS battery, not with the PC or with Windows. The UPS battery may be starting to lose power storage capacity. So just keep an eye on it.
The other things you seem to want should only apply to a laptop and unnecessary on a desktop PC.

I go to Device Manager and choose Show Hidden Devices. Under batteries, there is a battery icon. When I click on it and expand the tree, there is only an icon for the HID UPS Battery. I can right click on the icon and there is a choice to Scan for Hardware Changes. What I mean is there are no icons for the Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft ACPI for me to right click on. Are there stand alone downloads to reinstall the Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft ACPI? Thank you.

It started happening after the last Windows updates. I only asked because those icons were there before and I followed a fix that said to uninstall them. Thanks.

Forget about the device drivers in Windows.
If you are using APC products, you may want to try APC PowerChute.
For Tripp Lite, considering PowerAlert.
Cyber Power offers PowerPanel.

@WC7264 - Try this:
BTW: If your UPS has its own driver installed in Win 10, you may need to reinstall (or update) it too.
BTW2: Please don't follow things you find on the net to "uninstall X, Y or Z", unless you know exactly what you're doing and you make an image of the entire boot drive immediately before uninstalling something.
