memory upgrade for Inspiron 3477 all in one?

Hello

Is it possible to upgrade memory? I keep often get out of memory messages, lately every day. I've done everything that google has suggested and still, snap! out of memory.  I have a simple excel spreadsheet and Chrome open.

I am almost computer illiterate but I'd rather do it myself, if possible and easy. I've looked at a few post here and I'm pretty much wut?

Thanks for any help!

Yes, you can upgrade your system memory to gain better performance and to resolve the lack of memory issue.  Compatible memory can be sourced here  https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/dell/inspiron-3477-aio

You didn't tell us how much RAM your PC has now. The most you can have is 16 GB.

These are Dell's validated specs:

Per slot 2 GB, 4 GB, 8 GB, and 16 GB
Total memory
4 GB, 6 GB, 8 GB, 12 GB, and 16 GB

For starters, reboot and tap F12 when you see the Dell splash screen.  Select Diagnostics and fully test the RAM that's installed to see if something failed.

What unnecessary stuff is loading in the background at every boot, eg:  SupportAssist, Dell Update, Adobe Updater, etc...?

Have you scanned thoroughly for malware recently? Malwarebytes (free version) would be a good tool to use.

Here's the service manual with instructions to open the AIO and install RAM.  Read/follow carefully, but working inside an AIO can be a challenge for someone without a lot of experience. Do you have a geeky friend who can help...?
