LG Monitor random black screen with dell desktop...
Brand new purchased 30 days ago . Screen opens in power saving mode. I checked the settings. Goes black for 5-7 seconds randomly while working or when streaming etc then comes right back. Happens a few times a day and tonight went black for a few minutes but sound still working. I was told it was the surge protector and to plug directly in the wall. I did and same issue. Bought new surge protector same issue. Then I was told it was the screen saver and display settings. Followed instructions and nothing has changed. Waiting on a call back but not sure what to do.
Any suggestions. Screen always opened in power saving mode and the black screen started before I started booting from a USB device for work, thanks.

it is a bug.
Inspiron 3030 has DP and HDMI video ports
HDMI; DisplayPort is the video ports for LG monitor
try to use Dp to Dp video cable btn PC and monitor, if not already done
hdmi video port is converted from Dp inside pc as often shown on Dell mobo schematic in the past.
Direct Dp appears to have less trouble

What version of BIOS is installed in this Inspiron 3030s? Latest version is 1.9.0. You need this version to fix Intel's problems with 13th/14th CPUs. If you don't know what version is installed, click Start>Run>msinfo32.exe and click OK. When that opens, click Summary at top left and scroll down right pane to find the BIOS version number.
If you don't already have version 1.9.0, install it now, so you can rule out Intel's CPU problems. Carefully follow Installation Instructions>Updating the BIOS from BIOS Boot Menu (independent of operating system) at the link above. That's the safest way to install a BIOS update.
Once you click the button to start the BIOS update, leave PC totally alone until it's safely back at the desktop. It will reboot itself several times and may look like it turned off and not doing anything. Just leave it alone! When the update is done, PC will automatically boot to the desktop.
Did you install the monitor's driver on the PC? Looks like it's this one (Win 10).
If installing both the BIOS update and the monitor's driver don't help, can you test this monitor/cable on a different PC or a different monitor/cable on this PC? That way you should be able to tell if it's a monitor or PC problem.

My Precision 3620 does nearly the same thing. If a monitor is plugged in HDMI, the display randomly goes off for a few seconds and comes back on. This happened with 2 different monitors. So my monitor has been plugged in DP for over a year now and no problems.
One can also just go into BIOS to see what version they have.
