Issue with USB Drives--Only Works One Time after Reboot

I ran into a problem this week with 3 Dell computers with Windows 10--an Inspiron desktop, Optiplex desktop and Inspiron laptop.  The USB flash drives only work after once after an initial reboot of the Windows 10 computers.  Once unplugged and plugged back in, the USB drives are not recognized until rebooting the computers.  I have tried several flash drives and different ports on each of the computers with the same results.  The three computers have all Windows 10 and Dell updates installed, including the BIOS and chipset updates.  I  have done a refresh of the USB ports.  Nothing in the Device Manager is showing as Unknown.

Anyone else run into this?  Any suggestions for solutions are greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Thanks for the replies.  We found out it is a problem with the anti-virus program blocking the USB drive.  Once the anti-virus software is uninstalled, the external USB drives are recognized.  The software company is working on a fix and recommended rebooting before using the USB drive, or uninstalling the anti-virus program until the bug is fixed.  Thanks for your replies.

Are you properly "Ejecting" the flash-drives with Windows option first?

Go to Settings. In it's top-search-box, type "Autoplay".

In AutoPlay settings for Removable-Media, set it to "Open Folder to view files in Explorer".

You should provide the exact PC model numbers.

How are you disconnecting the USB sticks? Are you using the Safely Remove USB icon in the Notification area of the taskbar to eject the device or are you just pulling it out of the USB port?

When you hover over that icon you'll see a list of devices that can be safely ejected like this:

If you aren't ejecting the USB stick that way, it might not be recognized again until after you reboot. When you use that icon, if the device is in use, you'll get a warning that it can't be ejected.

Worse, if you remove the USB without using that safely remove icon or just ignore the warning when you use it, you may corrupt files on the USB stick, causing data loss.

But...does that mean you're not running any antiviral software?

That would not be a good idea...!

Care to mention that product's name and version number so other users can avoid it?

I am unable to post the name of the product--"not permitted in this community".  The product name starts with B and ends in R--according to reports, the issue started occurring since 26.0.12.52.

I have reinstalled the security program and waiting for the fix.

@ascnsult  - If you uninstall or disable BitDefender, Windows Defender (aka: Windows Security) should automatically be enabled. So you could use WD and still be able to access your USB ports, while they fix the issue....

EDIT: Forum let me post the name, so I don't know why it blocked you...

Hi, I'm having the same problem today. But as an antivirus I have Kaspersky.

Everything was working fine, but after a series of updates provided by DELL, everything went haywire.

Solutions?

I have no antivirus software, not DELL, but Lenovo notebook and have the same problem. The USB flash drive is recognised and works flawlessly on other notebooks, running Win 7. The problem is purely Windows 10 issue.
