Is it possible to change a pentium D cpu with a core 2 quad cpu

if the Pentium D is for LGA775 socket and the PC model bios supports C2Q then yes

for example Dell XPS 410, yes

XPS 400, no.  It has LGA775 but bios does not support C2Q
