Inspiron RAM upgrade configurations

I currently have an 8gb module and a 4 gb module for a total of 12 gb.  My question is if I can replace the 4 gb module with a 16 gb module for a total of 24 gb?  Thanks.

Hi

Well DELL test and check configurations, publish and support them.

Memory makers continue development, DELL may not test and check later memory module configurations.

IF you buy from a reputable source that guarantees the configuration and the individual components with a money back guarantee, you then have a choice, surely?

Please can you confirm the Make Model and OS, along with any configuration details like touch screen, backlit keyboard, SFF or tower etc etc.

@anne_droid

Sorry, I thought I put that in the subject line.   It’s an Inspiron 3910 desktop running Window 11 24H2.  Just trying to see if I can actually combine those two modules and get 24 gb, or if I’ll only the 16 gb.  Thanks.

Hi

Well I would check places like Crucial, Kingston and ....

I would say that if you buy from a reputable seller, then YES you can achieve what you wish.

@anne_droid

Thanks.  Subsequent to my post, I found this in the Dell specs for my PC:

Memory configurations supported

● 4 GB, 1 x 4 GB, DDR4, 3200 MHz

● 8 GB, 1 x 8 GB, DDR4, 3200 MHz

● 8 GB, 2 x 4 GB, dual-channel DDR4, 3200 MHz

● 12 GB, 1 x 4 GB + 1 x 8 GB, DDR4, 3200 MHz

● 16 GB, 1 x 16 GB, DDR4, 3200 MHz

● 16 GB, 2 x 8 GB, dual-channel DDR4, 3200 MHz

● 32 GB, 1 x 32 GB, DDR4, 3200 MHz

● 32 GB, 2 x 16 GB, dual-channel DDR4, 3200 MHz

Based on this, I suspect it won’t work, as that configuration is not mentioned.

I’ve kind of arrived at the same conclusion, and plan to try it and see what happens.  Thanks for your assistance!
