Inspiron 7700 AIO, thunderstorm, won't turn on

Hello everyone! We had a very violent thunderstorm last night. We had connected our Dell Inspiron 7700 AIO to a switched off multiple socket with surge protection. Now the computer still won't turn on. Does anyone have any tips? I desperately need the computer this weekend.

Did you try disconnecting the "multiple socket with surge protection" and connecting PC directly to the mains?  Did you disconnect all USB devices?

Do you see any light in the PC's power button when it won't boot? Color, steady or blinking?

It's possible the PC's power adapter got damaged, if the surge exceeded the protector's capacity or it just wasn't fast enough to save the adapter and/or the PC.

Yes, I connected the PC directly to the mains, disconnected all USB devices, checked all sockets, checked all other devices on the multiple plug (except for the printer that is connected to the PC via cable, everything works). The power button lights up solid white.

Solid white power button is a good sign!  It means the PC passes the Power On Self Test (POST).

Read the section about button #2 on bottom edge of screen. First, test the LCD panel, starting with power off.

Assuming LCD passes. With PC on, press button #2 to change the selection for the video input source. It's possible you accidentally pressed #2 so the PC is expecting an HDMI signal from an external device (eg DVD player, game box, etc).

Any update...?

Hi! Unfortunately, no good news... Diagnosis by the technicians: complete failure. This means that Dell Inspirion 7700 AIO and printers got it via the FritzBox. So to completely renew all 3 devices.

The Inspiron power button turns solid white which means it passes the Power On Self-Test. So that's not a "complete failure". Did they miss something...?

If your surge protector has a warranty against damage, contact the manufacturer to see if they will cover at least some of the replacement costs.

Good luck with all your new hardware...
