Inspiron 7459, black screen and no power

Inspiron 7459

Inspiron 7459

Hello,

I bought a Dell Inspiron 7459 since 2016 and have used it for a year. Warranty expired April 2017. But after that, I did not turn it on for about 6 months. When I opened it, the screen was black, but it was starting up, and I connected it with an HDMI cable on an external screen, and I saw the device working normally, but a black screen. I did not care about it and I parked it because I was facing many problems with this device, including When opened for more than two hours, the device was very hot and restarted automatically. But now I tried to open it, but it does not work completely. I tried to press the power button for 60 seconds, and there is no benefit in all DELL solutions, all of them failed.

I need solutions, if you have them.

Thanks

You might want to start by replacing the motherboard battery, if nothing else than to rule out a dead 7-year-old battery.  Looks like this model uses a battery with wire leads so you'll likely have to order it on line. Probably a CR2032 with wire leads, but confirm for yourself.

This model has two HDMI ports, HDMI-OUT and HDMI-IN, #17 and #18, here.  Are you sure you connected the external monitor to HDMI-OUT, #17?

Have you tried pressing button #8 (same link, above) on right edge of screen which turns the internal display on/off and is used to select HDMI-IN, in case you accidentally turned the internal LCD off or selected an external HDMI source (game box, DVD player, etc) which should have been connected to #18? Same button might also be used to select output to an external display too.

And one more question...what color is the PC's power button and is it steady or blinking when PC isn't working? If blinking, count the blinks because that's a error code.

Is the power button's LED on or off and what color? If PC has "no electric", the power button LED should be off (dark).

I gave you a link to the Service Manual about replacing the motherboard battery and a link to help find a battery with a wired connector in my first post. The site where you bought the adapter has them.

Try performing a hard reset by disconnecting the power adapter, removing the battery (if possible), holding the power button for 60 seconds, then reconnecting the power source and attempting to turn on the laptop again.
