Inspiron 620, won't power up
My 2012 620 has been upgraded over the years, and was running perfectly with Windows 10 Pro on 8gb RAM and a Crucial 500gb SSD. Last night we had a power outage, and now it won't start up. The orange led on the motherboard lights up, but pressing the power switch has no effect at all (no light in switch)
. I've checked the PSU (paper clip trick) and it seems ok, replaced the CMOS battery and tried disconnecting the front usb ports from the motherboard, all with no effect. The machine just won't start up. Any suggestions of what to try next gratefully received!

Got a local trusted computer techie to look at it - the PSU was fine, but the motherboard had failed, so it's time to bid it farewell.

all PC fail if you own them long enough, ever one does, for sure batteries and HDD. boom end of life EOL.
so tell what you see and hear, fully,
screen 100% total dead, and works on 2nd PC?
was screen cable video on the right port, do you have GPU card there is yes that is the right port only. DVI?
fans spin, for sure CPU fan, does it this is FIRST, does it?
DVD tray will not eject with its own real button? if no power is dead. 5v or 12v. dead. or both.
The ORG led means power issues, (means power is weak or power is being overloaded)
do the hard power reset yet, 7 easy steps, posted on all OEM makers web sites, as first thing to do , dead PC.
if that fails, then assume a card any part of the PC has shorted module,(overloading the PSU)
the PSU will not run in to any class of overload, (3 ways to fails) voltage , current and power.
that magic prevents that FIRE thing from happening, (spec, is 1second or less to react , mine does it in 16/100th of second, (DPS grade PSU me)
the testing in a shop is easy, we strip it down to find out who is shorted or dead. you did #14 already, PSU benched.

The green PSU led on the back lights up, as does the orange led on the motherboard, but no light on the front panel switch. When I press the front switch, nothing - no fans, disk activity or anything. I tried disconnecting the PSU from the motherboard, but the PSU fan only activated when I short the green and black wires, which I think indicates that the PSU is ok.
