Inspiron 3910: Recommendation for NVME M.2 Standoff and Screw

Hi,

I'm trying to install a NVME M.2 2280 SSD into a Inspiron 3910 desktop tower for a friend. I'm kinda shocked at how jacked up the connector is in comparison to the mounting point on the motherboard. I've done plenty of Optiplexes that just required the m2x3 screw.

Pray tell can someone recommend where to get the correct standoff and screw for the Inspiron 3910?

I'm retired so I don't need a set of a gazillion different screws. Just a few extra maybe.

Thanks in advance.

@redxps630

No, I'm sorry, the standoff is NOT an integrated component of this oem board. There is a piece that's missing that has to support the NVME underneath it. Between the motherboard and the bottom of the NVME chip.

As I stated in my post, "I'm kinda shocked at how jacked up the connector is in comparison to the mounting point on the motherboard. I've done plenty of Optiplexes that just required the m2x3 screw."

If you try to just screw the NVME into the motherboard without this supporting piece, the NVME will not be level, the end of the NVME will be at a DOWN ANGLE. I've been inside the case.

Does anyone know the specs of the standoff and the screw that I need?

Thanks.

Hi,

Does someone either know the specs of the WYT40 standoff, or can recommend a compatible aftermarket standoff?

Thanks.

Y'know what, I'm starting to get a little annoyed that you seem to be the only one who's answering questions around here, but once again, you don't know what you're talking about.

I already told you, and I'm gonna tell you once again, I've been inside the case. The standoff is MISSING. There are two threaded holes in the motherboard, one for a 2230 and one for a 2280, but NO standoffs.

My client is the original owner. The standoff was not removed - it was never installed. That's what the bean counters at Dell do, if the system is not ordered with a SSD, they do not put in the standoff. This was confirmed by the Dell parts people at 800-288-4410. Who by the way did not know what a WYT40 is until I explained it to them.

What a nightmare.

Does anyone out there know the specs of the missing standoff for the Inspiron 3910?

Anybody?
