Inspiron 3910 and old Canon scanner?
I have an Inspiron 3910 with Windows 11 that's about eight months old and would like to connect it to a Canon Lide 25 scanner that is about 25 years old, but Canon no longer supports the Lide 25 which was last compatible with Windows 7. I still have the Lide 25 installation disc.
So is it possible to connect my Inspiron 3910 to the Lide 25 using its installation disc?

Very unlikely that the installation disc will work with Windows 11.
However, both Win 10 and Win 11 do have built-in Microsoft universal drivers. You can attempt to connect your device and allow Windows to install its driver.

Chino de Oro:
Thanks for your reply.
I connected the Lide 25 to the Inspiron 3910 via USB but nothing happened. I then tried to add the scanner via the Control Panel, but this led to no driver available for the Lide 25.
I also have an HP OfficeJet 3830 printer/scanner that is about four years old and is Windows 11 compatible and tried its scanner, but I got the following results:
"The scan could not be completed due to one or more of the following issues:
- Connection to the computer is lost.
- The scan application on the computer is currently in use.
- OCR application is not installed on the computer.
See the computer monitor for details."
So do you have any suggestions on how to solve the scanner problem on my 3910?

For the Canon, with it connected and powered on, run Windows updates and check under optional updates to see if anything provided by Windows.
For the HP, open MS store and search for HP Smart App, it will guide you through several settings and it will installing all needed apps and tools for the HP.

It is unlikely to directly connect the Inspiron 3910 to the Canon Lide 25 using its installation disc since the scanner's drivers may not be compatible with Windows 11, but you can try using compatibility mode or seek third-party software solutions to make it work.
