Inspiron 3880 with Windows 10 Pro OEM license upgrades to Windows 11 HOME
Hi,
I have Dell Inspiron 3880 which shipped with Windows 10 Pro OEM license from Dell. I just did a clean install to Windows 11 from the Microsoft-provided USB media creation tool. During installation there was no option to select an edition, Pro or Home. After OS installation finished it shows that it installed Windows 11 HOME, not Pro. I understand that this might have something to do with the license saved in the UEFI, but this computer shipped with Pro, not Home. How do I get it to install Windows 11 PRO? Thanks.

You can go to Support.dell.com enter your service Tag
Click on overview and view specs.
Now you can find the factory shipped OS from Dell
You are probably right, Amazon sellers do modify the computer for the deal to look more attractive.
I would also suggest comparing RAM, SSD with the factory specs as well.
In case of future hardware failures Dell would only cover what they build, if seller has added anything in the machine you will have to contact him,

Thanks for your reply. Something strange is going on with this machine that I'm trying to upgrade in particular. When I run : wmic path softwarelicensingservice get /format:list I'm seeing "Core OEM" when it is supposed to say "Professional OEM" for the product key description.
Core means Windows 10 HOME. So I'm wondering if this machine was purchased from an Amazon 3rd party seller who was doing strange things. We stopped buying from Amazon 3rd party sellers a while back. All other machines in the business that I have checked show Professional OEM.

Very helpful, thanks! I checked the service tag on the Dell support site and sure enough. It lists that this machine shipped with Windows 10 HOME. Please beware of 3rd party Amazon computer sellers people. Thanks.
