Inspiron 3847 with WD19TB Dock

Inspiron 3847
I use my personal Desktop Inspiron 3847 at the same desk where I work with my laptop, docking station, and double monitors. The 3847 worked with my old dock (now broken and recycled) by plugging it into the USB-A port on the front of the computer. The new dock (WD19TB) has a USB-C connection to the computer, and when I connected it to my 3847 using a USB-C to USB-A adapter it didn't work. Is that expected and is there anything I can do to make it work? USB-C PCI card? Video card? Settings? Driver?

WD19TB dock is a thunderbolt docking station. It's compatible with thunderbolt connection devices. Your Inspiron 3847 does not have thunderbolt port for connection. Your PC can only work with universal USB docking stations, aka DisplayLink. There is no other option.
