Inspiron 3847 Freezes Right After Logging Into Windows
I have a Dell Inspiron 3847, and I began having a problem today. When I log into Windows, my mouse works fine up until I reach the main desktop screen, and then both my keyboard and mouse completely freeze. I can’t do anything after that.
I ran the Dell diagnostics, and everything came back fine, so it seems like this might be a Windows issue rather than a hardware problem.
Has anyone experienced this before, or does anyone have advice on what I could try to fix it?
Any guidance would be really appreciated, thanks!

First, try replacing the size 2032 motherboard battery. Bad batteries affect BIOS and therefore PC operation. Problems depend on individual unit.

Hi
Also try ""SAFE MODE"" if possible.

the usb ports are disabled by Windows corruption. Try using a test hdd to perform a clean Windows install.

I was thinking the same thing as redxps, but after the battery is replaced. Nothing but problems if the battery is bad, including trying to reload.
I second what redxps says about corrupted Windows. If changing the battery doesn't work, it's likely Windows became corrupted by malware or a virus. I had the same problem when I was sent malware when I had a WinXP PC. Use a brand new SSD(preferred)/HDD to reload. Wiping an HDD doesn't necessarily wipe all of the malware. Another problem I ran into back in 2013.
All important stuff (data, files, erc.) should be backed up outside of the PC.
