Inspiron 3671 - Add extra 3.5 HDD
Hi,
I have dell inspiron 3671 with 1 TB 3.5 HDD and 256GB SSD.
I see it has 2 data Sata ports and 1 SATA2 power port.
I am looking to add 4TB 3.5 HDD as its faster and cheaper than 2.5 HDD.
I know the documentation says, only 2 additional 2.5 HDD can be added, but asking if anyone added 3.5 HDD and did it worked?
1) Is there a way to add 3.5 HDD and will the PSU and Motherboard support?
2) Since there are 2 SATA ports, so can I can total of 2 x 3.5 HDD in total - Is PSU and Motherboard enough for that?
3) What is the best place to mount these 3.5 inch HDD?
Thanks in Advance.

There is only one 3.5" drive bay in the system, so if you need another it will need to be USB/external.
Another option is to dispatch the 1G 3.5" drive you have now in favor of an M.2 solid state drive. Install the OS onto it, which will do two things: free up the 3.5" drive bay and greatly speed up the operation of the computer. Then install the 3.5" hard drive for storage purposes.

Thanks for the response. What is "1G 3.5" drive"? And I already have M.2 256GB where OS is installed.
I am looking to add more storage to the box.
RIght now, 3.5 inch HDD rests flat on the base near the PSU, how about i place them vertically some how - that way 3 drives can stack together?

An un-orthodox way to install two 3.5 hdd is to install a second hdd in the optical disk drive bay assuming you can use pc without dvd. You will need to experiment on how to fasten a hdd there. It seems there is room
