Inspiron 3647, CPU upgrade, #2
I have an Inspiron 3647 which I've upgraded the RAM to 16Gb, replaced the mechanical hard drive with and SSD and added a GT 730 GPU. The computer originally came with an Intel G3220 dual core and I have upgraded that to an Intel i3-4130. I was wondering if I could upgrade the CPU to an i5 or i7 CPU. Both of these CPUs are listed in the manual as upgrades. Would the stock cooler work with the i5 or i7? Any issues with the more powerful CPUs taxing the power supply?
Edit: This is the SFF version with a 220W power supply.
Thanks.

i5-4590, i7-4770 are 84 W cpu while i3-4130 is 54W in TDP.
the Dell mainstream heatsink rated for 65w cpu ought to be upgraded to 95w performance styple heat sink (thicker)
good idea to replace the hdd w ssd. ssd is more power efficient too besides being faster
if you have a dvd drive, consider disconnecting its power to save power. without the dvd
Load Wattage:204 W
Recommended PSU Wattage:254 W
220 w psu is good enough for the load wattage which is max pwr consumption in typical scenario.

Thanks for the info.
I have the same Inspiron BUT with i5. Runs at 2.7 hrz - I believe.
Was looking into updating or purchasing new.
Would LOVE to save $$$. Possibly updating CPU, RAM to 16 and " slim" graphics card.
Any thoughts - you seem to know your stuff.

this model is not good for upgrade. slim desktop with proprietary psu
it might waste your money to upgrade it
also it is intel 4th gen
the newer desktop can be found at cheap price

220w PSU can power the following cards. Make sure to get an LP (low profile) version and check dimensions for fit. Card also needs to be single-slot and not double-slot.
Quadro's P400, 600, & 1000
Edited from PC Parts Bin:
