Inspiron 3471, compatible SSD?
Inspiron 3471
I have a dell inspiron 3471 desktop , recently thought of upgrading to ssd from hdd , Seeing the m.2 slot in motherboard got the nvme ssd but after installing neither the bios nor the disk management is detecting my ssd . then saw that my pc has m.2 SATA . Is my pc compatible with nvme ssd or only with sata.

According to the specs here, unfortunately your M.2 is SATA only.

JOcean is correct as always. You can bypass the motherboard m.2 slot limitation by using a PCIe x4 nvme ssd adapter, assuming you are not using the x16 slot for discrete gpu.

@redxps630 That doesn't look like a 3471. Is that the extra memory drive? If so, where do you get the adaptor, what kind of SSD can you use, and can it be used as a boot drive?

you can use a nvme or sata m.2 ssd with a low profile ssd adapter add in card. not sure of boot. it depends on whether bios can detect the ssd on add in card as a boot drive
