Inspiron 3030 Small Desktop
Query about PC powering on sequence.
1/ PC is plugged into wall mains Socket but Socket not switched on.
2/ Switch wall mains socket on and the light on PC’s power switch immediately comes on and PC appears to attempt power up and then down,
3/ Now press PC’s Power On button and PC starts again and system boots up OK.
My query is this the normal sequence or is there a problem ?

It's a normal behavior and the PC works as designed. PC being programmed to perform a system check after received power again after a power outage.
If you always keep the wall main socket with live electricity. It won't happen again until you have an actual power outage.

It feels like there ought to be a setting to turn off this annoying behaviour. My mains feed is protected by a remote surge protector and power switch that avoids devices being on standby overnight. Failing that a physical switch on the power supply. Is this another case of cost-reduction going too far and creating unintended consequences?

@Deembe Checked the BIOS and the AC Recovery Option is defaulted so that ought to only power on if the system isn't closed down normally.
